After having a basketball or football in his hands since a toddler, Coach Matt came to triathlon to keep his competitive spirits healthy after his college athletics days came to an end. His first season of sprints races, captured his heart and started to build his interest in the sport. His first long distance triathlon came at Ironman Lake Placid in 2003, and now 11 years later he holds 12 total Ironman finishes at various races across the country and a finish at the prestigious Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. This year, Coach Matt will take his fitness to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete in the 70.3 World Championship on Sept. 8.
After 13 years in the sport, Coach Matt wanted to give back to others what this amazing sport has given him. He founded Trust The Plan Coaching (TTPC) in 2012, and is a certified USAT Level 1 coach, and recently took on the Head Coach for the soon to be established triathlon team at Carnegie Mellon University.
His overwhelming theme of TTPC is BALANCE. It really takes a village to raise a triathlon – you never, ever cross the finish by yourself – you always bring across all the people who have helped you through this journey.
